A new neighbourhood amenity, the open-air pavilion and stage at the heart of St. James Park is set in an enlarged plaza where diagonal paths form a vital neighbourhood crossroad.
Designed with heavy timber columns and trellis canopy with recessed lighting, it is in part, inspired by the arches of the cathedral’s Gothic Revival architecture.
With its location at a community axis that attracts walk-by pedestrians, it is suitable for a variety of programmed events and for daily community uses. Are you looking for programmable community space?
The new pavilion/plaza features…
- A plaza capacity of 510 people (sit/stand) and size of 4115 sq ft
- A stage, approx 1000 sq ft (25’ x 42’) with the longer axis oriented to the open plaza
- Electrical outlets provided at the base of the columns on the stage floor
- Concrete stage is accessible by stairs located at the northwest corner of pavilion
- Accessibility features: sloped ramp north of the stage, anti-slip tread on stairs, tactile indicators around the stage perimeter
It can be used for…
- Live performance space
- Practice space
- Information booths
- Command centre for community activities
- Outdoor classroom
- Yoga and meditation clinics
- Birthday parties
